Hi there. Just making another blog post for my World Religions class. As seen in my last two posts, you've probably recognized that I am writing about The Beatles for my Independent Project and how they are related to the religion of Hinduism. I thought that instead of jumping full heartedly into how they are related to Hinduism, I should first explain who The Beatles are. All right, I'm sure that most people have heard of The Beatles, but you would be surprised as to how many people have either never heard of them or have never even looked into who they are. Like I've explained, I've grown up my entire life eating, breathing, and sleeping Beatles. Would you believe that John Lennon and Paul McCartney met at a park when John was playing for a church? It's crazy to think where they came from and what they did and how they came to be the people that they were and still are. The two had began to write songs together and later on that year, McCartney had convinced Lennon to let George Harrison to join the group. It's really surprising to read this and realize that there were several different performers for the band before it all came down to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They were playing regularly for awhile there until about November ninth, where they were discovered by Brian Epstein who later on became their manager- of course, after he discovered they weren't German and were actually quite popular in Liverpool- and decided to change things up a little bit and changed them from leather jackets to nice gray suits. Seemingly, he "cleaned" up their act as stated by Rolling Stones Magazine. At this time, it had been Pete Best who was the drummer and had become a certain kind of symbol for the band and was eventually asked to leave. That is when Ringo Starr replaced Pete Best as the new drummer. The Beatles went on to sell many records and top the charts for years after that until they decided to go their separate ways. John Lennon was murdered, George Harrison died from lung cancer, and the last two left spend their time secluded. World Religions

The Beatles As A Whole

Independent Project
So as in the last post, I had explained that I would be talking about The Beatles for my independent project. I read an interesting article from the view point of another person about George Harrison on George Harrison and India. It was an interesting article in the fact that at the beginning, he had stated that The Beatles were racist against Indians in a movie of theirs. George Harrison is the one who became more close to Hinduism and was the first to become intrigued by it. The Beatles had started a liking for Hinduism by wearing clothes that were from India. They also wrote several songs that were based off of Hinduism. George had even taken a strong liking for Krishna. Of course, to the Westerners who started to get involved with Hinduism started what was called the "Hippie Movement". I do believe that The Beatles influenced a lot of Hinduism throughout the world and I'm becoming more and more fascinated by why they got so spiritually connected to it. Possibly just because it made them happy? World Religions Class
World Religions
Hi, I'm Reid. I'm currently taken a class called World Religions and in this class I have to do an "Independent Project" for my teacher. The project is about reading something I enjoy that relates to any of the Religions we talk about- Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism, Native American Spirituality, Judaism, Christianity, Taoism, and Western Philosophers- and do something such as a paper, drawing a picture, or simply writing poems about it. I've decided to write about The Beatles and their spiritual lives. The Beatles have always been a really important part of my life. My uncle, as I was growing up, introduced The Beatles and Hinduism to me at a very young age. Since my uncle passed away at the age of twenty-eight, I've dug deeper into all the religions that he dabbled in, in hopes that maybe theres a way to be closer to him. My uncle was a fan of Hinduism and The Beatles, so I'm fascinated at how and why they were so connected to Hinduism- especially George Harrison- and wanted to educate myself more.
